KERALA LABOUR MOVEMENT (KLM)

Kerala Labour Movement (KLM) is the official organ  of Commission for Labour of the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) working for the welfare and empowerment of the workers in India. It focus on the service  to the empowerment of the unorganized workers of the state.It works for the total liberation and integral development of the workers especially the unorganized. implementing social security schemes and service conditions to the employees working  at  institutions.

Objectives

Enhance the dignity of  labour through the proper dissemination of the labour responsibilities perspectives of the church and the interventions labour organization and ensuring its truthful  implementation in the labour settings

Empowerment of the unorganized workers through leadership promotion and capacity building programmes

Ensure labour justice to all unorganized workers through the lobbying.

Ensure gender justice amoung the unorganized workers of the state through enhancing the bargaining power of the women organized workers and creating appropriate strategies .

Information dissemination and awareness creation

Social mobilization and capacity building

KLM at present initiated in Punalur Diocese is SNTU (Swathanthra Nirmana Thozhilali Union)

 Aim the  programme is the  empowerment of construction workers.
